Salvaged Burnt Wood from the Arsoned Homes of Flint, MI

From a six-year series of works, Hallowed (2016-2022). In 2016 I revisited my childhood neighborhood in Flint, MI to find much of it in ruin due to arson. For the next six years, I salvaged wood from this neighborhood and created several free-standing sculptures and site-specific installations concerned with dynamic form and unexplained balance. I used Greek and Hebrew titles which translate to words relating to “wonder”, “redemption”, “resurrection”, etc. Anagennaō is Hebrew for “rebirth”. Anagennaō was the last installation in this series, created for the inaugural year of Kinfolk House in Fort-Worth, TX.
